Kristin In Lauren

Of all the things we would expect to see from Kristin, her wearing Paper Crown was never one of them. Kristin embracing Lauren’s clothing line is a shocker for sure. Kristin was spotted wearing a Paper Crown dress in last month’s issue of Splash Chicago.  It’s like these women are really all grown up and stuff.

Kristin wore the “Jasper Dress” from Paper Crown’s Holiday 2012 collection and paired it with high heels from her Chinese Laundry shoe line which launched a month ago.

Back in December, Kristin made the revealing confession that theHills was fake but her dislike for Lauren was real to a certain extent. Looks like Kristin wants to put all of their high school problems behind and show us that she has moved on.

Cotton seems to be really important for Lauren and for her designing process as she told Giuliana that she uses a lot of cotton, or cotton blends in both Kohl’s and Paper Crown because cotton is versatile in so many ways. Moreover, she revealed that her everyday clothing cosists of denim & button-down shirts made of cotton, as “one only feels pretty in something if it feels comfortable on them.”

Lauren Reassures You It’s Okay To Recycle Your Outfits

The holiday season provides many problems for the fashion conscious. If you’re a particularly social bunny, you will be stressing about what you’re going to wear to all of the parties you’ve been invited to. However, Lauren Conrad has come to your rescue and declared that it is okay to wear the same outfit twice. Lauren has told FabSugar, “During holiday parties I end up recycling a lot of my cocktail dresses, and just wearing a layering piece, like a blazer and tights, with it.”

If you’re still stuck for something to wear, Lauren recommends that you check out the festive holiday collection she designed for Paper Crown, she said, “When I was designing, I was really keeping in mind the types of things you do during these months,” she explains. “You’re going to a lot of holiday parties, and you want to look festive and still put together. So we had a lot of fun with that.”

Christmas is less than a month away now and Lauren has her wish lish planned out. “My wish list for family is always something I can eat, drink or burn,” she says. “I don’t need a lot of things. So a nice scented candle, or a bottle of wine, or just treats — those are always fun.”

Gossip Center

Lauren Conrad revealed alot more than her Paper Crown holiday collection at Neiman Marcus’s Cusp boutique in LA on Wednesday, November 16. Namely, her holiday plans! Lauren will be returning home to Laguna Beach, California where she’ll be rustling up the turkey for her family, she revealed, “I usually just go home for Thanksgiving, but I’m the chef.” Lauren admitted she will be hiding out in the kitchen during the day, “I learned very quickly that as the chef I get to stay in the kitchen all day and you don’t have to do any dishes at the end, so that’s the job I definitely go for.” Thanksgiving is the perfect time to reconnect with family and friends you may not have seen much of over the year. And Lauren agrees as she said, “This whole month is just about spending time with your friends and family.”

Meanwhile, Lauren was spotted leaving the Kate Somerville Spa in West Hollywood, California on Friday, November 18. Lauren brightened up the dreary winter evening in a pair of red pants and white sweater.

Paper Crown: A Year in Review

Paper Crown

Paper Crown designer Lauren Conrad is giving us a sneak peak of her upcoming Spring 2012 collection, alongside her Holiday and Fall 2011 collections which were already released. Paper Crown is LC’s third contemporary clothing line that she has designed with her childhood friends Maura McManus and Gary Samuelian. Her first line, the Lauren Conrad Collection, was quite simple and launched in 2007 but was later put on pause. She then had her more affordable LC Lauren Conrad Collection which was sold exclusively at Kohl’s. Her latest project, Paper Crown, is more of a contemporary collection and debuted for Fall 2011.

The Fall collection was very feminine and romantic. Classic styles were used with an emphasis on fit and fabric quality, making each of the pieces perfect for the contemporary woman’s closet. The collection consists of clean lines, idealistic, maxi floral tiered dresses, cocktail dresses, and neutral colored menswear-inspired pieces. The color palette is very soft and neutral making everything wearable for all occasions.

Her Holiday collection consists of copious amounts of velvet, tiered ruffles, chiffon and lace. Some of the fabrics and prints are over used which makes the collection a bit of a miss. On the plus side, some of the velvet dresses will look great for Christmas parties as well as some of the staples she included like the blazer and high waisted skirt.

Lauren recently released look book for her SS 2012 collection. This collection features a similar neutral palette in creams, pinks, and browns. Dresses are shown with longer hemlines and looser tops tucked into shorts. The use of ruffles, kimono sleeves and high waisted pants and shorts are seen often throughout the collection. So far it’s looking very cute but it wouldn’t hurt to see a pop of color in a few of the pieces.

Obviously Lauren is still learning and some of the pieces will be looked over on the racks but seeing as this is only her third collection it seems to be a hit so far and we can’t wait to see what she has in store in the new year.

We picked some of our favorite looks from the Fall, Holiday and Spring look books. Which Paper Crown outfit is your favourite?

Why You Need Liquid Leggings

Fashion spot

Reality TV star turned designer and style icon Lauren Conrad is known for starting new fashion trends. One of LC’s latest styles that we seem to be seeing a lot of is her black liquid leggings. She has been seen out on numerous occasions wearing her black Serena Leggings from Paper Crown’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection. LC recommends pairing the lightweight faux-leather pants with heels and a top for a night out or with flats and a loose t-shirt for a more casual occasion, she has been seen doing both.

We have recreated LC’s most recent outfit in her shiny leggings in our weekly fashion fauxfile. Now you can get the same look that Lauren was seen wearing on Thursday, October 6, at Mercato de Vetro.

In an interview with US Weekly on Thursday, September 8, Lauren explained of her leggings, “They are a staple for me when I’m going out, and I honestly I put the leggings on everybody, because they’re so flattering.”

“You can make them look very chic or more rocker and a little edgier.”

LC recently revealed her trick for getting the perfect lashes for Life & Style’s Beauty Awards. Her must-have mascara without paying a fortune is Maybelline Great Lash. This mascara has been a top seller for almost 40 years, no wonder she loves it.

Fashion Fauxfile- Lauren Conrad

Last week style icon Lauren Conrad was spotted out on the town heading to Mercato di Vetro in Los Angeles on Thursday, October 6. LC was wearing an all black ensemble while meeting friends for dinner.

Lauren looked great wearing black liquid Serena leggings from the Fall/Winter 2011 collection. She paired them with a black sheer blouse and a pair of black pumps. A perfect outfit for a September night out with some friends.

A similar outfit follows so you can add these pieces to your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Each of these pieces can be worn together or with other items making them super versatile and a must have for every girls wardrobe.

We picked a pair black shiny leggings that have a zip feature at the ankle from charlotterousse.com ($17) as well as an oversized black sheer blouse from topshop.com ($75). To keep the outfit looking classic we stuck with a black French Connection pump from asos.com ($120). Lauren is almost always seen with her quilted black Chanel purse so we picked a quilted clutch from yesstyle.com ($31) that still looks cute and you won’t have to sell you car to buy it. Wear your hair down straight or with a slight wave like LC and your all set for a fun night out!

Lauren Gets A Little Selfish

While shooting for People magazine recently, Lauren Conrad also had some advice to budding fashion designers.  “Design selfishly,” she says, “You know what you’d want to buy — design it.”

As for herself, Lauren can’t go past a maxi dress, sharing “I love floor-length pieces in pretty fabrics.”  So it stands to reason that the Paper Crown resort collection was full of maxi dresses in a variety of silhouettes.

She’s also all about being alternative in fashion.  Speaking of her Fall collection in particular, Lauren said “You can find an alternative to leather or fur, so use it.  I like that faux leather has more stretch, so we did a legging, which I love.”

Finally, Lauren shares that there will always be a theme to her designs, explaining, “The look is soft, romantic, pretty. Dress in what makes you feel good about yourself too.”
