You Can Be The Lucky One To Help Fund Whitney’s Fashion Week Show

Former City starlet, Whitney Port, is in a position where she has to ask her fans for something she would probably rather not.

Fashion week is a serious turning point for all designers and of course she would like  to be apart of it.  But,Whitney apparently doesn’t have the money to fund it.  So, she has reached out and asked her fans to donate $50,000 to her to allow her designs to be showcased this fall for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

We all know her fashion designs are unique and expensive, so why is she asking for the average joe’s money who probably won’t ever be able to afford it? Doesn’t she have enough money? This could be risky for Whitney’s career if fans react negatively to her solicitation.

Whitney must have thought about the potential backlash.  If you do have money to donate to a complete stranger who lives a rather privileged and lavish life, Whitney is giving treats in return. We don’t understand the logic in asking people for money and giving big gifts in return, but thank you Whit!  Most of the gifts have to do with Whitney Eve items, so we suppose Whitney’s not losing a lot of money on the giveaways.  She wants to give a behind-the-scenes look into the fashion world to the donators. Here is some fun stuff you will receive in return of a donation:

Donate $1: Receive a shout-out on her Facebook page.

Donate $5: Receive a personal tweet on her Twitter page.

Donate $30: Receive a $50 credit to WhitneyEve.com as well as a personal tweet on her Twitter Page.

Donate $50: Receive a Whitney Eve Spring ’13 look chosen by Whitney or two surprise pieces from past collections valued at $350.

Donate $85: Receive four surprise pieces of Whitney Eve from past collections valued at $700.

Donate $250: Receive a trip to Whitney Eve’s NYC headquarters during the days leading up to the fashion week you helped her get to.

Donate $300: Receive a sneak-peek to the Whitney Eve Spring ’13 collection by attending the NYC fitting.

Donate $450(ONLY 5 spots): Receive a front-row seat to view the Whitney Eve collection.

We would love to see Whitney on the runway, so even if we disagree with her method, we hope she makes it there!

Whitney’s Officially In The NYFW Club

We’re so proud of Whitney Port!  From her humble beginnings as Lauren Conrad’s work-buddy at Teen Vogue to a starring role in her own reality show theCity, and now a growing fashion line, no-one would have predicted Whitney’s success, but we sure are enjoying it.

Whitney spoke to Grazia UK magazine last week, after her Whitney Eve Fall/Winter 2012 collection premiered at New York Fashion Week.

Backstage, I asked her how it felt to be in the NYFW club and among such great company.

“Really weird and surreal,” she said. “But really, really cool.”

“Yeah, definitely scary!” Port confirmed with a nervous giggle and a quick flick of her frankly amazing blonde mane. But the nerves aren’t going anywhere yet, she explained. “I feel that the really scary part is now when you’ve done it and you’re waiting to hear what everybody has to say, but I’m just trying to tell myself that it doesn’t matter, that it doesn’t matter what anybody else thinks!”

Whitney needn’t fret – the collection was a fun, varied and extremely wearable addition to what is becoming a rather successful brand. Inspired by an antique kaleidoscope she found in her grandmother’s attic, Port showed graphic prints, tailored trousers and the occasional oh-so-very-now peplum, as well as little touches of sequin bling for the young city girl that she clearly aims for.

Soon, she’ll have the chance to pick up a few new fans from this side of the pond as she undertakes another February first – a six-week stay in London filming her new role as a judge on Britain And Ireland’s Next Top Model alongside Elle Macpherson, Julien Macdonald and Tyson Beckford.

“I’m coming out there the last week of February,” she told me. “I’m really excited! I love London but I’ve never really got the chance to actually be out there for an extended period of time, it’s exciting.”

Exciting, yes, but has she picked a judging strategy as yet – is she good cop or bad cop?

“I think that I see myself more as the nice, easy going, accepting kind of judge,” she said. “I don’t see myself being too hard on the people. I mean, I do have a side of being brutally honest but I don’t know that I’ll be able to actually be like that.”

Perhaps she’s been taking tips on brutal honesty from her famously direct mentor, fellow The Hills/The Cityalumni and America’s Next Top Model judge, Kelly Cutrone. Clearly the two are still close and work well together – Cutrone’s company People’s Revolution produced Whitney’s show, so one would assume it’s an important relationship.

“Very important,” Port confirmed. “I mean, Kelly has really nurtured me and taken care of me and shown me the way and she’s helped me get to where I am right now so I have an infinite amount of thanks for her.”

Whitney also posted some cool behind-the-scenes photos from the show on her website, sharing her gratefulness with her team and her fans, saying ” I can’t believe it’s already over! I’m so proud of the entire Whitney Eve team. Thank you to everyone who made this possible! xoxo, Whit.”

Olivia Wouldn’t Miss Fashion Week

You knew this was coming!

On Thursday, February, 8 Olivia Palermo showed us once again why she is the fashion IT girl, posing for photographs at QVC’s New York Fashion Week runway show.

Seated in the front row, Olivia was flawless wearing a black vest, standout printed pants and a pair of Manolo Blahnik heels that she teamed with a bright yellow statement clutch. Olivia has a way of putting different pieces together to make it an eye-catching outfit. Olivia ticks all the right boxes.

Whitney Port Fashion Week Take 2

Whitney Port is enjoying her time at New York fashion week, most recently spotted at Mara Hoffman’s show on Saturday, February 11.

Whitney followed the first rule of fashion opting to wear one of the designer’s own colourful skirts which she teamed with a white shirt and oversized navy jacket.  She finished off the look with her signature wavy hair.

Whitney was overheard saying that Mara’s “prints are always so fun, and I think she has a really great use of color.” She is becoming an expert in what to wear at runway shows.  We guess her years of designing are really starting to pay off.

Whitney is gearing up for her own fashion week show preparing to take to the runway with her own label, Whitney Eve, on Wednesday. This will be her first show at New York Fashion week.

Whitney Brings Fashion To This Week

On Wednesday, February 8, Whitney Port appeared at the opening of the galleria Melissa Flagship store.

Flying solo without her beau, Whitney looked stunning in Rodebjer’s Vira in navy. It was the perfect outfit for the occasion. Her hair was wavy with a cream clutch, and a navy jacket completed the outfit.

Black and Red

Well, fashion week is finally here, again.  And, like every week of fashion, the socialites are flocking to New York like moths to a flame.

On Friday, February 10, in New York City, Stephanie Pratt attended the Ivana Helsinki fall 2012 fashion show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week.

Stephanie beamed as photographers snapped her in her black embroidered jumper, teamed with black leggings and ankle boots. This outfit flattered her slender figure and everyone knows a girl can do no wrong wearing all black and red lips.

Stephanie was spotted inside the event chatting with Kim Kardashian’s bestie, Simon Huck.

Whitney To Make Her New York Fashion Week Debut

Whitney Port made the most of the winter sunshine with an alfresco lunch in West Hollywood, California on Wednesday, January 18. Whitney kept it casual in a black sweater, jeans, over-sized sunglasses and black boots.

Meanwhile, Whitney has announced some very exciting news — she will holding her first solo fashion show at New York Fashion Week. Whitney will be showcasing the upcoming fall collection for her clothing line, Whitney Eve. In a press release she revealed she is excited about passing this milestone, she said, “I am so excited to show on schedule as part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, and can’t wait to show my new fall collection on the runway.” She added, “My collection has grown so much over the past few years, and the next step for me as a designer was to put on my own runway show.”

The Whitney Eve runway show will take place in The Studio at Lincoln Center at 9am on February 15th.

Audrina Supports Badgley Mischka At New York Fashion Week

Gossip Center

Audrina Patridge popped up at the Badgley Mischka show this week, held at the The Theater at Lincoln Center in New York, on Monday, September 13.

The former Hillsie is a big fan of Badgley Mischka.  His designs even featured on an episode of Audrina, when she was in New York with mom, Lynn and sister, Casey.  Audrina also walked in his show last fashion week.

Audrina sat front row alongside Victoria Justice and LeAnn Rimes, and wore a simple black strapless dress with a statement necklace.

BCBG Max Azria Lights Up NYC Fashion Week

Gossip Center

BCBG Max Azria included its Spring 2012 fashion show along with many other designers as part of New York City’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on September 8, 2011.

The show was held at The Theater at Lincoln Center and the front row was packed with some of Hollywood’s hottest ladies including Jordana Brewster, Julia Jones, Elisha Cuthbert, Jessica Hart, Sophia Bush, and Maybelline model Jessica White.

One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush tweeted:

“Front row @BCBGMAXAZRIA – my favorite collection of theirs for years!! Stunning.”

Whitney’s Front Row Style

Whitney Port has been really busy this week, attending five shows at New York Fashion Week on Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10.

She was front row for the Luca Luca show, sitting with Shay Mitchell, Shantel Vansanten,  Joanna Garcia, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Ashley Tisdale and Solange Knowles

This photo gives a better look at Whitney’s Luca Luca outfit, which takes the quirk she is known for in another direction.  This isn’t an outfit many could pull off, but somehow the mustard skirt and olive sheer shirt really suit Whitney.

This outfit Whitney wore to the Rebecca Taylor show is another favorite.  We love the way she’s clashed her prints (stripes and spots) but used similar shades of grey.  Whitney tied it all together with a pair of silver and grey strappy heels.

The other shows Whitney attended were Charlotte Ronson and Rafael Cennamo.
