Samantha Swetra is Back in the Game

Remember Samantha Swetra? Well, you’re not a true City fan if you don’t. We joke! We kid! MTV interviewed Samantha about life post-City and her fashion blog, Wear The Wild.

MTV: What was your personal path like to New York?
Samantha: I came from a small town in New Jersey and always dreamed of living in New York City. I worked my ass off in high school to get to New York, then worked my ass off in college to land myself a position at Bergdorf, and voila–it all payed off!

The “Weekend at Freddie’s” debacle was one of MTV’s best awkward moments–was it really as cringe-worthy as it seemed?
Oh, my God–you have no idea. The 10 minutes you saw made it look bearable compared to how it really was! But looking back at it now it’s very amusing, and at the end of the day, Freddie is still one of my super close friends. He’s the guy I call for advice!

We saw you champion Whitney and see her through some firsts in New York–her first pair of Manolos, her first big meeting with a buyer… What have been some of your exciting “New York” firsts?
I’ve been here for eight years, and there are so many. New York is a place where anything can happen! I, too, bought my first pair of designer shoes here. Then later met the designer, Giuseppe Zanotti, and went to dinner with him and his team. I met my first New York boyfriend on the subway after getting on the wrong bound train. I had sushi for my first time and I shared a bedroom for the first time (not in the boyfriend way…).

The last time we saw you, Roxy was crashing on your couch while moving out of her shared apartment with Whitney. What have you been up to since “The City” career-wise? In your personal life? Do you still keep in touch with any of the girls?

I’m currently an account executive at Roberto Cavalli. I learned so much from my experience at Bergdorf–that job dovetailed very nicely into my new position. I’m a really hands-on type of person so being around the clothing all day suits me.
I have the same group of friends that I had while filming “The City.” I live with my French boyfriend of a little more than a year, and I’ve been slowly but surely learning French for him (I mean me…)! As far as Whit and I go, she’s still a very close friend! Anytime we’re in the same city, we make sure we fit in a date night. Roxy and I still keep in touch, and the last time I saw her was maybe seven months ago in London. Whit was with us, too. Then there’s Freddie who’s like a brother to me!

What’s next for you?
Well, my new job at Cavalli is really the perfect fit for me and the right direction for my career path. I wanted to relay the knowledge I gained from Bergdorf over to the wholesale side of the business. Also, my blog “Wear The Wild” shows a little piece of my life. Styling is my passion, and after “The City,” I wanted people to see what I was up to.

What advice would you give someone who wants to move to New York and get into fashion?
I would tell them to just do it! Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Also, always keep in mind that it’s a very small industry, so refrain from pissing someone off!

The Situation Is Worse Than We Thought

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past week or so, Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has checked himself into rehab. A source has confessed to TMZ that Mike was showing signs of drug abuse during the filming of season 5 of Jersey Shore.

Several people noticed Mike was “acting paranoid” on the set and his behavior was evident in a season 5 camping episode that recently aired on MTV. During the episode, he can be seen “acting jittery, sweating profusely and just plain acting bizarre.”

No sympathy here. You get what you deserve when you dabble in drugs.

Click One Post, Get Two Whitney Port Stories

Whitney Port graced our television screens once again for The Price Is Right on the morning of Thursday, March 1. She presented a designer showcase for her line, Whitney Eve. Whitney wrote filming it was ” probably the most fun on-air TV experience I’ve ever had” on her website. Let’s hope MTV don’t read that!

Meanwhile, Whitney was spotted bundled up against the bitter North East chill in New York City on Thursday, March 1.

Ten Easy New Year’s Resolutions

Start the new year with these ten easy resolutions. Why should you follow ours? Because we haven’t included ‘go to the gym’ as one of them; we only have your best interests at heart!

1. Spend More Time with Family and Friends

This one is easy and cheap. In fact it really needn’t cost anything at all. Making some time for your personal relationships will leave you feeling happier and your bonds stronger. After all, what’s the point in finally getting your dream job this year if you have no-one to share the good news with?

2. Volunteer

There are hundreds of nonprofit volunteering organizations that could really use your help. You could mentor a child, build a house, clean-up a neighborhood or help out at a local charity. Not only will you help make a positive change to someone’s life, your C.V. will get a boost too.

3. Learn Something New

Languages. Baking. Swing dance. Martial Arts. Painting. Take a class, course or start your own home study. Achieving your goal will leave you with a great sense of fulfillment and confidence. Plus you might make some new life-long friends too.

4. Watch Less Trash on TV

We know, we know. We get the irony. But seriously, turn off Toddlers and Tiaras and pick up a copy of Little Women instead. Turn off MTV and go to that languages class. There’s a whole world out there. Instead of watching it, live it. Or at the very least, read it.

5. Get Your Five a Day

Of fruit and vegetables that is. Growing up and becoming an adult is all about taking personal responsibility. And you have no greater responsibility than taking care of your health. Eating healthy will make you look and feel amazing. It is really that simple. This resolution will benefit you for the rest of your life.

6. Take More Trips to the Land of Nod

Are you one of those people who are always claiming to be tired? Are you also one of those people who stay up all night on Facebook and Youtube? It sounds like you definitely need a technological detox. If you can’t quit the internet yourself, assign someone you live with to force you into going to bed at a reasonable hour. Your studies and/or work will prosper as a result.

7. Control Your Finances

No, you don’t need those shoes. That bag. Nor that extra drink. It’s time for a financial detox too. Make it your resolution to only spend money on what you need, not what you want. The money you save can go towards paying off debts or keep it stashed away for safe keeping. Imagine ending the year richer than you began it.

8. Smile More

Life sucks. There is no denying it. In between break-ups, death, job loss, (not forgetting the wars, protests and recessions) it is easy to become wary of the outside world. Counteract this by smiling at strangers and spreading good will. This is considered a cliche and cheesy because it works. Remember how you had an extra spring in your step the last time someone smiled at you? Give another person that feeling.

9. Get Organized

You know what they say – a cluttered room is a reflection of a cluttered mind. Okay, it might not be those words exactly, but it’s of the same effect. Tidy your house, bedroom or workplace and take ownership of your surroundings. By taking pride in your personal space you’ll start taking pride in yourself.

10. Laugh

Laughing raises serotonin levels which makes you feel like you’re walking on a cloud. No matter what 2012 throws at you, choose to have an optimistic outlook on life and find something to laugh about every single day.

From Jersey Shore to K-Mart

It seems like everyone from singers to actors to reality TV stars has a perfume and now we can add J Woww to the mix.  Jersey Shore‘s J Woww, also known as Jennifer Farley, was in Miami on Sunday, December 4 to launch her new fragrance at K-Mart.  JWoww’s scent has been received much better then her BFF and colleague, Snooki’s.  People have speculated that the #ScentofSnooki smells like a mix of burps, yeast, cigarettes and pickles.  Any guesses at what the #ScentofJWoww smells like?

Along with her fragrance launch she was also signing copies of her book The Rules According to J Woww.

You can catch J Woww and the rest of her Jersey Shore cast mates when the show returns Thursday, January 5.

Anne Hathaway is Engaged

Today is the day for engagements! First, Kristin Cavallari broke her happy news and now Anne Hathaway is joining in the fun too. Anne’s rep has confirmed that she is engaged to wed longtime boyfriend Adam Shulman. On Sunday, November 27 the actress was photographed sporting a ring on a day out with Adam in Brooklyn, New York City. Her rep has also revealed some juicy information about the engagement ring, she said, “The ring is a design collaboration between her fiancé Adam Shulman and Kwiat Heritage Jewels.”

The couple began dating in 2008 and Anne has confessed that Adam has completely swept her off her feet. “I am very much in love with him, [only] Adam totally ruined my plan,” Anne previously said of their three-year relationship. “I was really actually looking forward to a little alone time, and then I fell in love like a fool!”

Basketball Wives Tell All

The Hollywood Reporter

Basketball Wives star, Evelyn Lozada has signed a 6 figure book deal with Cash Money ContentCash Money Content is managed by brothers Baby and Slim Williams, the same people that gave us Lil Wayne and the term “bling bling”.

Evelyn will apparently have multiple projects with the company with the first project being a book series called The Wives Association Evelyn, along with co-author — you knew there would be one — Courtney Parker will tell the story of Evelyns alter ego Eve and will gather stories from experiences Evelyn and her friends faced as basketball girlfriends and wives.  While the book will be a fictional story it will be loosely based on events from Evelyns life.

While Cash Money Content has said this won’t be a tell-all it does seem like readers will be in for some juicy details from Evelyns life. If Lauren Conrad‘s LA Candy series is any indication of what happens when reality TV, fiction, and  a little bit of truth come together then we’re sure it will be a success.

Kristin Hangs With Mario and Luigi

Kristin Cavallari looked great at the Nintendo party for the launch of Super Mario Bros 3D Land.  The party took place on Thursday, November 3, in Hollywood.

Kristin looked cute in a sheer top, black skirt, and of course a fabulous Chanel bag.  We’re jealous she got to hang out with Mario and Luigi all night.  What a dream!  The perks of Hollywood.

Ex-Boyfriends Are Scarier Than Zombies

Lauren Conrad/Ryan Seacrest

Talk about a truly scary Halloween. Lauren Conrad ran into her ex Kyle Howard at Matthew Morrison‘s star studded Halloween party this past weekend.  It was the first time Lauren had seen Kyle since they broke up 4 months ago.  While everyone braced themselves for drama there apparently was none.

Lauren and Kyle shared a friendly greeting, hugging each other and appearing genuinely happy to see each other. They apparently chatted for a while before going their separate ways to party with their separate friends.  We commend Lauren on handling this potentially awkward situation with style and grace. We make no promises for what might happen should we ever run into our ex boyfriends.
