A Mental Breakdown Has Never Been So Profitable
In a battle of the big vs. small screen moments, the movie stars historically grab the headlines, however, the television stars have managed to dominate the news in 2011. Case in point is the infamous Charlie Sheen breakdown. He was beloved as the main star of Two and a Half Men but is now a universal poster child for the dark side of fame. An interview he conducted with ABC News gave rise to concerns over his mental health. However, it also gave rise to popular culture sayings such as, ‘winning’ and ‘tiger blood.’ These two phrases were regurgitated verbatim on Facebook statuses, tweets and frat t-shirts. Charlie was eventually fired from the hit comedy show and after much public debate over who would fill his shoes, Ashton Kutcher was announced as the actor who would be replacing him.
The Tale Of The Cougar And The Cub
Poor Ashton. Actually, not so poor Ashton. He started off his year on a high – his career was on the up and he seemed to be in a committed and happy marriage to Demi Moore. However, this good will was about to come to a very abrupt end. After a night of poor judgement and 20 something women in San Diego, California in September, his reputation was about to be washed away down a hot tub drain. Ashton humiliated Demi when his affair with Sara Neal became a public scandal and every dirty detail of their hook-up was the topic of discussion the world over. Even Lauren Conrad couldn’t resist picking up a magazine to see what the ‘sources’ and ‘insiders’ were speculating. After a month of speculation about the future of their marriage, Demi announced in November she will divorce Ashton over the allegations of his affair. We can see the headlines in 2012: ‘Demi tries to make Ashton jealous by dating his co-star!’
Never Marry A Guy Who Has The Same First Name As Your Mother
In what was billed as the celebrity wedding of the year, Kim Kardashian wed Kris Humphries in a star studded ceremony in California in August. The wedding preparations plastered magazine covers in the months running up and not a day passed where E! didn’t run a commercial on the television promoting the Keeping up with the Kardashians wedding special. That’s why the world was shocked when Kim released a statement announcing her intention to divorce Kris after only 72 days of marriage. Even the hardened celebrity news bloggers at Hills2City were left floored. The statement prompted news outlets to release lists of silly events which lasted longer than her marriage and some even claimed she had purposefully faked her marriage so she could make money off the back of wedding sponsorships. Kim replied to these allegations in an open letter and made it clear that her marriage was not a publicity sham. As of this week, sources are insisting that Kris will file for an annulment as his religious beliefs do not permit a divorce. Messy, messy, messy.
