Newlywed, New Look

After marrying her long time boyfriend Johannes Huebl in a private ceremony on Saturday, June 28 in Bedford, New York, Olivia Palermo debuted a new look in Paris.  Most of us change our hair before our weddings, but Olivia decided to go from brunette to blonde after she shared her “I do’s”.

In town for Paris Couture Fashion Week, Olivia showed off her lighter locks on Wednesday, July 9, at the Valentino show, which she attended with her new husband.

The new Mrs Huebl looked her front-row best, wearing her new lighter locks straight and parted down the middle, a white shirt tucked into a black and orange a-line skirt.  She accessorized with a fringed green clutch and black and white strappy heels.

Surprise: We Eloped!

While Lauren Conrad was in Mexico for her Bachelorette party and Whitney Port is still planning her wedding, Olivia Palermo surprised us all by getting married in secret!

Olivia married her partner of six and a half years, Johannes Huebl, in a civil ceremony on Saturday, June 28, in Bedford, New York.

The former star of theCity posted the photos above on her website, explaining, “We really wanted to keep this beautiful day very private and special to us and enjoyed the whole day with our family and two friends.  Bedford is such an amazing and romantic countryside.”

Another surprise was how casual Olivia was on her big day.  Hills2City didn’t expect her to be such a bohemian; maybe Olivia and Whitney have more in common than anyone thought?

Olivia wore a cream, long sleeve knit, white shorts and a tulle skirt, all by Carolina Herrera.  She chose cobalt-blue heels by Manolo Blahnik as her ‘something blue’, evoking memories of Carrie Bradshaw in the first Sex & The City movie.

The new Mrs Heubl wore her hair up in a messy ponytail and used natural shades for her makeup.  Olivia shared, “I wanted the make-up to be light and fresh and more focused about the lashes while keeping the eyes clean.  My hair was in an uncontrived ponytail, one of my favorite personal looks.”

There were rumors that Olivia and Johannes has originally planned to be married in St Barts later this year, but moved the date because German-born Johannes faced some visa issues, and might have been forced to leave the US.  The couple have denied the rumors however; Olivia’s spokesperson Barbara Saint-Aime making the statement, “They had always planned to have a small civil wedding in June.  The whole visa thing is not relevant.  They have been together for six and a half years, they got engaged this past January.  They travel so much during the summer, they really don’t have much time to plan things.”

Barbara also stated that Olivia and Johannes planned to have a larger celebration later in the year, so all our designer-wedding-dreams are not totally dashed!

Congratulations Olivia and Johannes Huebl; Hills2City are so happy for you.

Whitney’s Wedding Weekend

While her fellow reality co-stars Lauren Conrad and Olivia Palermo are also engaged and planning weddings right now, something tells us Whitney Port’s wedding to Tim Rosenman is going to be a unique event.

Whitney and Tim, who are pictured here in New York City late last year are generally happy to stay behind-the-scenes.  Case in point, it’s hard to find many photos of them together!

The former star of theCity spoke to Brides magazine, revealing “We want to make it a full weekend celebration.  It’s just difficult finding a place that’s easy for everyone to get to and that won’t require our guests to spend a lot of money.”

Whitney shared that their main objective for the wedding is, “a fun environment for everyone.”

Tim is happy to let Whitney take the reins when it comes to most of the wedding plans, but he does have one stipulation, the bride-to-be says.  “Like one thing he wants is to make sure that there’s not a strict curfew where the party ends at 10, when it comes to design and décor, he will take a step back.”

So has Whitney found her dream dress yet?  She shares that she’s still looking, explaining, “It’s dependent on where the wedding is and what the dress looks like, but I don’t see myself going super glam.  I think less is more and I don’t want to worry about fixing my hair and makeup all night.”

Olivia Shares Her Wedding Style Tips

Olivia Palermo appears on the cover of Brides magazine’s June/July 2014 issue, which is due out on newstands on Tuesday, May6.

The engaged star reveals her personal style inspirations for her wedding to longtime partner Johannes Huebl, advising Brides-To-Be, “Check out the Marchesa, Oscar de la Renta or Carolina Herrera shows online.  And even if your dream dress comes right off the rack, add your own touch. Play with colour. It’s all about the styling!”

From her interview with Brides, Hills2City get the feeling that Olivia may stay away from traditional white for her own wedding gown; she reminds us, “I always like to incorporate pops of color.”

Olivia also spoke about how she and Johannes first met, explaining, “Friends set us up, and it just fell right into place. We’re a great team. We understand and respect each other, and we make each other better people. It also helps that we both work in fashion and can travel the world together. We get to see the world through each other’s eyes.”

Whitney’s Wedding Gown

Bridal Fashion Week just took place in New York; it’s something that follows on from the Ready-To-Wear collections, giving women the chance to see what the new trends will be in bridal fashion.

This season Bridal fashion is particularly exciting to Hills2City, because of the upcoming weddings of Whitney Port and Tim Rosenman, Lauren Conrad and William Tell, and Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl!

Whitney spoke to People magazine this week, giving her take on her favorite bridal looks.  Starting from the Oscar de la Renta design of the eyelet bikini and maxi skirt on the left, Whitney says, “The idea of a beach wedding sounds so beautiful to me, so I loved this one.  I like that it’s very simple, but still delicate, and not the traditional wedding dress.”

The second dress Whitney loved from Bridal Fashion Week was this Vera Wang slip dress. She explains, “I’ve been toying with the idea of wearing a classic slip dress and this look is just simple and comfortable. You don’t have to worry about anything or the fuss of a big ball gown.”

Whitney’s third idea was a different spin on the slip dress, featuring a more risque look. “Another idea I considered was trying the see-through trend, where you can see the bra and panties underneath. I didn’t know if that was okay for a wedding, but this dress shows you can make the look tasteful.  Plus, it features a lot of sequins and beading — I’m a sucker for anything metallic or sequined!”

The Naeem Khan dress to the right is probably the most traditional of Whitney’s picks.  She shares, “I’ve also been toying with the idea of wearing a veil, and this one makes me feel like I want one. It’s such a beautiful, intricate accessory, especially if you have a very simple dress.”

A Perfectly Styled World

Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl continue their tradition of being styled perfectly at all times; the engaged couple taking a walk together in the West Village on Monday, March 31.

Olivia wore a sheer black top under a short-sleeved black jacket, black and white leggings and black and white embroidered flats.  She carried an oversize white tote, and wore black cats eye sunglasses.

In other Olivia news, she now has her own emoji’s!  The team at her website explain:

If there’s someone Hills2City can always count on to really bring it for NY Fashion Week, it has to be Olivia Palermo.  The girl simply can not put a fashionable foot wrong, inspiring us left, right and center.

On Wednesday, February 12, Olivia showed us how to mix and match prints, wearing a polkadot shirt by Club Monaco, leopard print cigarette pants and printed cats-eye sunglasses.  The newly engaged star complimented her printed look with a cobalt blue, fur-trimmed 3/4 length coat by Diane Von Furstenberg and furry heels by Fendi.  The reason this print combination works is because Olivia stuck to mixing monochrome prints.

Olivia’s fiance Johannes recently spoke to Vanity Fair, giving more details around his proposal.  Johannes shared, “She and I were all by ourselves, no parties, no distractions, and I just couldn’t wait anymore.  I was too nervous for four or five days already into our vacation, so I kind of wanted to get it out of the way.”

He continued, “It couldn’t be any more romantic. She didn’t know, and she liked the ring a lot…it was all dark, she couldn’t see it, but she just fell into my arms.”
