Chaz Bono and fiance Jennifer Elia have joined the ranks of celebrity break-ups, announcing the end of their engagement via a rep on Monday, December 19.
A rep for Chaz spoke to ABC, confirming “Chaz Bono and his fiancée, Jennifer Elia, have jointly announced that they have called off their engagement and are no longer a couple. They leave this relationship with great love, respect and affection towards one another. No further amplification will be forthcoming and they ask that you respect their privacy at this time.”
The couple, who had been dating since 2005, recently showed off the details of their engagement in Chaz’s most recent documentary Being Chaz. The Dancing With The Stars contestant proposed to Jennifer on top of the Seattle Space Needle, and it was shown as part of an hour-long special on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network in November 2011.
So what went wrong? A friend of the ex-couple spoke to The Huffington Post, saying “Relationships are not easy. Add on top of that, when this couple started this relationship they were both women — and now one is a man. Add to that, they both have had substance issues and a lot of personal problems they needed to figure out. It was an amazing relationship and they wanted to get through the TV show together before making a decision about moving forward.”
“Chaz has been living in the guest house for some time now,” the friend continues. “Both of them had been in therapy to try and save this relationship, but in the end, it became clear to both Chaz and Elia that this wasn’t going to work.”

Kristin Cavallari was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars on Tuesday, October 4. Despite earning 24 out of 30 points from the judges for her amazing samba skills, Kristin and dance partner Mark Ballas were voted off by the American public. What makes the shock exit so, well, shocking, is that Kristin wasn’t even one of the bottom acts. The contestant honored with the lowest score for the evening was Chaz Bono and his dance partner Lacey Schwimmer. Yet he got to survive for another week. Head judge Len Goodman and show host Tom Bergeron both declared the results to be truly crazy. But nobody was more surprised than Kristin herself as her face dropped when she heard the news. This just goes to prove what we all suspect – DWTS is not a talent show, but rather a popularity show.
What would’ve made this loss even more bitter was the fact that Kristin’s ex-fiancée Jay Cutler, was in the audience. Boy, talk about embarrassing. Kristin was a bag of nerves backstage, admitting, “I’m so nervous. My ex-fiance’s here.” You shouldn’t worry too much Kristin, Jay is probably proud of you for making it this far. The DWTS audience are tough cookies to crack!
In the face of loss Kristin has shown grace and humility. She could’ve bad mouthed the remaining contestants, instead she talked about what a wonderful time she had on the show. “It was a lot of fun, and a great workout!” When we asked if there was more dancing her future, she said, “It’s been nice not having to go to the gym for the past couple of weeks, so maybe!” One of the remaining contestants, J.R . Martinez, has spoke about how he will miss Kristin and Mark, “Kristin has a lot of potential so it was a real shocker for all of us,” he admitted. “I was sad to see [Kristin and partner Mark Ballas] go home.”
Nevertheless, Kristin has a sneaking suspicion that she knows why she was eliminated. She revealed her thoughts on it when she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live with Mark for their post elimination interview. Kristin admitted she was aware that all of the contestants on DWTS had sob-stories to manipulate the audience into voting for them, during the ‘Most Memorable Years’ section of the show. Kristin mocked her privileged existence saying, “I graduated high school and moved to LA.” Looking back she realizes this was an error as few people can relate to her life and in turn will not feel compelled to vote for her.
Kristin should seek comfort in the fact that the judges and professional dancers all thought she did not deserve to go. If you can’t win the show, be the one who got away.

We had a suspicion she might be joining the show, and now that the cast for Season 13 of Dancing With The Stars has just been announced, we can confirm that Kristin Cavallari will be strutting her stuff.
The full list is as follows:
- David Arquette, actor
- Ron Artest, NBA player
- Chaz Bono, LGBT activist and media personality (son of Sonny Bono and Cher)
- Elisabetta Canalis, media personality (former girlfriend of George Clooney)
- Kristin Cavallari, reality TV star
- Nancy Grace, TV talk-show host
- Rob Kardashian, reality TV star
- Carson Kressley, reality TV star
- Ricki Lake, actress
- J.R. Martinez, war veteran and actor
- Chynna Phillips, singer
- Hope Solo, soccer player
The producers were promising a well-known cast and we think they’ve delivered, especially with the likeds of David Arquette, who is probably the biggest name on the show. Rob Kardashian is following in the footsteps of big sister Kim, who appeared on series 7 of DWTS.
Kristin is obviously not the first cast member of theHills to join DWTS, as Audrina was on the show recently. Only time will tell if Kristin is as much of a hit with audiences as Audrina was, but we’re looking forward to finding out.
On Monday, August 29, Kristin joined her fellow cast members for a launch party at Next Door Lounge in Los Angeles. She wore a ballet-inspired pink dress with red strappy heels and wore her hair up in a ballet bun.
On Sunday, August 28, Kristin was seen already practicing for her new show, arriving at the studio for a dance session.
