How Much Is That Bling Worth?

Jessica Biel

Celebrity relationships always seem to be so up and down.  One minute they’re madly in love and exchanging vows at the altar, the next they’re heading for the divorce court.  During the past couple of weeks alone, there have been rumors of trouble for Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas and let’s not forget the ongoing saga of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s engagement.

All of this got us thinking here at Hills2City, just how much someone like Khloe, Jessica Biel, Angelina Jolie and Beyonce would be able to pawn their engagement bling for if the marriage ends up going sour.  Richard Shults from Pawngo, the first full-service online pawn shop in the US, provided Hills2City with the deets for the most expensive rings, from 10 to 1.

Blake & Ryan Get Married!

It may be her Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester who made it to the alter first on the small screen, but Blake Lively is the first of the Upper East Siders to get married in real life, tying the knot with boyfriend Ryan Reynolds this weekend!

It’s being reported that Blake and Ryan were married in South Carolina on Sunday, September 9.  Charleston-based radio station 95.1 FM tweeted that the gorgeous couple were seen exchanging vows at the Cotton Docks at Boone Hall Plantation, which is located in Mount Pleasant, just outside the city.

Although the marriage is yet to be confirmed by either the couple or their reps, Blake’s mother and sister were seen in town this weekend and on Sunday night, a big party took place in a large white tent at Boone Hall Plantation. It’s said that Florence and the Machine singer Florence Welch, who is good friends with Blake, performed three songs at the event.

Congratulations Blake and Ryan, Hills2City are so happy for you!  We can’t wait to see photos from the wedding reception; which designer do you think Blake wore for her big day?

Lest She Be Upstaged By S…

Last week Blake Lively’s new campaign for Gucci Premiere was revealed, and this week it’s her Gossip Girl co-star Leighton Meester’s turn!

Leighton, who’s already the face of Vera Wang’s Lovestruck perfume, continues her partnership with the company by fronting the campaign for Lovestruck Floral Rush.  After all, Blair Waldorf wouldn’t let Serena outdo her…

The campaign for Lovestruck Floral Rush was shot by Carter Smith and follows on from the original Lovestruck’s Romeo and Juliet theme.  Leighton wears a gorgeous floral gown in the shoot, by Vera Wang of course.  The scent delivers top notes of “champagne, pink pepper and apricot blossom, as well as some pink passion flower, marigold and white freesia in the middle.”

Blake vs. Serena

It’s no secret that Blake Lively has stolen our hearts when it comes to fashion; the same can be said for her on-screen character Upper East Side It-Girl, Serena Van Der Woodsen. The question is, who does it better?

Describing her style as being moody, Blake says, “there’s no one thing I would say, because like me, my style is growing and changing.”

She has charmed the likes of Karl Lagerfeld who adored the Gossip Girl starlet so much that he made her the face of Chanel, and the envy of millions, back in 2011.

To feed our green-eyed monsters even more, February 2012 saw Blake’s closet receiving a Christian Louboutin makeover. The shoe designer of all shoe designers sent her his entire spring 2012 collection.

Her on-screen counterpart Serena, has conquered the fashion world in her own right, rocking a chic yet relaxed look inspired by Kate Moss. Serena fills our screens from week to week in structured, well-cut jackets, sky high boots, couture and each outfit is completed with statement necklaces.

With so much fashion fierceness, how do we pick a favorite wardrobe? Can we have one of each?

The Première

Not only is Blake Lively filming the sixth and final season of Gossip Girl, but she has also recently filmed her first commercial as the new face of Gucci’s Première fragrance.

In an interview with WWD about her new role, Blake said  “Gucci is a staple. It is a brand I have always looked up to because to me it represents strength. In their designs, in their images, in what they stand for philanthropically, and especially in their fragrance. I couldn’t be more proud to be working with Gucci and its heart, Frida.”

For her part, Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini said, “Although she’s young, she’s also very determined, and I liked this spirit. She knows how to be a diva in the right sense, with an aspirational glamour.”

Fame Is A Savage Beast

Blake Lively is the cover girl for the summer 2012 issue of Bullett magazine, wearing an ethereal white dress by Chanel.

Inside the magazine, Blake appears in a beautiful shoot by David Slijper and talks about the end of Gossip Girl, her new movie Savages (which is out this summer) and her own personal relationships:

On being excited for ‘Gossip Girl’ to end:
“I think the best way to describe it is like someone who really enjoyed high school, and is like, I’m a senior and I can’t wait for the next thing!”

On being slow to build friendships/relationships:
“The way that I meet people is the same way that I’ve always met people. It might be weird if I was on JDate, but I’m not, so that’s good. I meet so many people in passing at parties, but I’ve never been a person who’s like, I know I just met you, but let’s exchange numbers and be best friends.”

On studying for her ‘Savages’ role of Ophelia:
“I started thinking about the state of young people these days. In my character’s situation, her mom is off with nine different husbands and her dad left her when she was a kid. She has nobody to learn from, so she’s making her own mistakes. Dad takes a hike and now she’s hiking up her dress for two guys. You don’t think there’s a parallel there? These kids are very much the product of this cynical generation.”

Oliver Stone on ‘Savages’:
“It touches on many things that I like: family, power, greed, murder, death, the border of Mexico and the U.S., and cartels. A lot of it—the sex, violence, and drugs—was probably scary and challenging for Blake, who seems like she comes from a nice family. It ain’t a Disney World ride and it certainly ain’t the Upper East Side.”

Good Gold! Look at Whitney!

Tlfan/Style Guide

Whitney Port channeled her inner Grecian goddess at the Rodial Beautiful Awards in London, England on Tuesday, March 6. Whitney positively glowed in a gold lace toga dress by Julien Macdonald.

However, we do have one little bone to pick. This look is very reminiscent of Blake Lively’s outfit at the 2011 Met Gala. The dress, hair, make-up, poses. The same. All the same. Come on Whitney, you can do better than this!

SPOTTED: Manhattan’s Elite at New York Fashion Week

MarieClaire/Zimbio/Just Jared

The fashionable elite descended upon New York City this week to kick off New York’s 2012 Fashion Week and to get a glimpse at the unveiling of the Fall 2012 goodies! New York was invaded with models, designers, magazine editors, photographers, bloggers and celebrities.  Not to be overlooked were our favorite Gossip GirlsLeighton Meester, Blake Lively and, gone from our screens but not our style radar, Taylor Momsen.

The current face of Vera Wang, Leighton was spotted at the Vera Wang 2012 runway show on Tuesday, February 14. She tweeted her excitement before the show: “I can’t imagine a better way to spend Valentine’s Day than goin to the @VeraWangGang show!”

Blake was a vision in winter white at the Noon By Noor show; Taylor at the opposite end of the color scale in black lace for the Marchesa show.

Who was your favorite Gossip Girl this NY Fashion Week?

The All-American

She may have recently been replaced in the movie Side Effects by Rooney Mara, but Blake Lively’s fashion career is well and truly solid.

Blake appears on the cover of Elle magazine’s March 2012 issue, and as well as a very sexy photo shoot, spoke to the mag about boyfriends, fashion and kids:

On the men in her life:
“I’ve had four boyfriends in my whole life. I’ve never been with anyone that’s not a boyfriend. If I spend time with a man, it’s because there’s somebody that I know well who has been a friend for a while.“

On not having a stylist:
“When I’m going to an event, I’ll send Christian (Louboutin) a picture of my outfit and say, ‘What shoes do you think I should wear with this?’”

On kids:
“I hope to have a few girls one day. If not girls, they better be trannies. Because I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories that need to be appreciated.”

On a report that she and Ryan Reynolds are looking for an apartment on Fifth Avenue:
“Newspapers say a lot of stuff, don’t they? Though I wish I could afford half the places that I hear I’m looking at. Sign me up!”

The Replacement

Rooney Mara is this year’s Mila Kunis; pretty much unknown until her current big hit, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Not only has Rooney been nominated for an Oscar for her breakout role, now comes the news that she’s replacing Blake Lively in the upcoming Steven Soderbergh movie Side Effects.

We’re unclear as to why Blake needed to be replaced, but it could be something to do with Blake’s star power compared to Rooney’s?  Of course Blake is front and center in our minds right now because of Gossip Girl and her relationship with Ryan Reynolds, but her turn in last years Green Lantern probably hasn’t done her career any favors.

Rooney joins Jude Law, Channing Tatum, and Catherine Zeta Jones in the Side Effects cast.  She plays a woman who becomes addicted to prescription drugs and has an affair with Jude Law’s character.
