Best Friends Forever?

In New York to attendFashion Week, Lauren Conrad also made an appearance on Good Afternoon America, on Thursday, September 6.

Lauren was asked to take part in a round table discussion with Lara Spencer, Josh Elliot, and Sherodd Small about friendship.  Specifically, the question was raised “Is it ever ok to dump a friend?”, which given Lauren’s dramatic reality tv past friendships, is quite apt.

The Paper Crown designer opined that her idea of friendship is to have a small group of really close friends rather than “a ton of friends who’re just ok.”  She agreed with Lara in that as you get older, you don’t need to be in constant contact with a real friend, and that you can just pick up right where you left off.

Lauren shared, “I think there’s something nice about a friendship where if you get really busy or just kind of caught up with something you can check in with someone you haven’t really spoken to in about a month; there’s no guilt, there’s no hurt, there’s just happy to hear from you and, yeah, those are kind of the best friendships.”

Lara asks Lauren what she does do if it’s time to dump a friend, and Lauren responds by saying “I think it’s just a phase-out, you just start picking up every other phone call,” and laughs, explaining “It seems so dramatic to say ‘I’m breaking up with you! We’re done!’, I think that’s how friendships work, some of them you grow out of.”
