Best Dressed: 2012 Academy Awards

The big colors on the Oscars red carpet this year were white and red, with touches of glamorous black. Last year’s Best Actress winner Natalie Portman chose a vibrant red vintage gown by Christian Dior Haute Couture.

The strapless polkadot gown was originally from the 1954 collection; Natalie accessorized with a statement diamond necklace, smaller diamond earrings and a black clutch, leaving her hair down and straight.

The Help’s Octavia Spencer not only won the award for Best Supporting Actress, but she was also a stand-out glamor girl on the red carpet.  Octavia wore a white beaded gown with a train, by Tadashi Shoji which evoked a real art-deco feel.

She accessorized with a crystal-studded clutch and diamond earrings, wearing her hair up in a chignon.

Emma Stone delivered a fun, comedic performance with Ben Stiller as they presented an award last night, making fun of her “it girl” status.  She followed this up by looking drop dead gorgeous in a deep red gown by Giambattista Valli.

Emma wore her hair up in a slicked back bun and accessorized with a jewelled clutch, diamond bangle and diamond earrings.
