Kate Middleton: From Topshop to Vogue

#Fashion

Kate Middleton’s broad appeal lies in the fact she still shops at high street stores like Topshop and Reiss, yet is also being sought out for the cover of US Vogue.  We covet her style and have most definitely put her on a pedestal, but Kate Middleton is also the girl we can imagine meeting for a cocktail on a Friday night.

Kate was recently shopping in her local Topshop, where she picked up three items, that included a teal spot pencil skirt, a cobalt-blue velvet trim boucle jacket and a pair of golden roundish earrings with a feather motif.  This all came to the grand total of 100 pounds.

For a girl who has almost-direct access to the crown jewels, who wore the Queen’s Cartier Halo tiara on her wedding day, and borrowed her grandmother-in-law’s maple leaf brooch for her official trip to Canada, it’s pretty cool to see she still has a thrifty side too.

Apparently staff at Kate’s local Kensington Topshop were discreet whilst the Duchess was in the store, but as soon as she’d left informed the rest of the staff member’s that they’d been serving their future Queen.

At the other side of the fashion spectrum, Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour is very keen to snag Kate for a future cover of the magazine.  Page Six report that the may be trickier than it sounds, as  ”the Palace must approve it, and they are very protective of Kate.”

Anna may have a trick up her sleeve though, with her close relationship to photographer Mario Testino.  Mario has a long-held relationship with the British Royal Family, so if anyone is going to convince the palace to approve a Vogue cover for Kate, it will be him.
