Meeting the Parents

#Lifestyle

Kelly Bensimon, of The Real Housewives of New York, sat down with Hollywood Life and was asked this question. A regular with love advice, she shared that she didn’t let her father or mother meet her guys until they meant something to her.

Meeting the parents can be very daunting and scary. Especially when you’re not sure when the right time is to do so. If feelings such as these occur, it might not be appropriate just yet.

Meeting the parents should come with discussion and the knowing of your relationship status. Your parents should meet someone who you care about and that is special to you. Introductions to them mean that you take this person serious and you guys are in an exclusive, taking-it-to-another-level, type of relationship. Meeting the parents should come after you have met his friends, possibly co-workers, and have integrated each other in your lives.

Although, no time is the right time, and it all depends on the couple, it may help if your mate has already been telling his family about you. That way you won’t have to feel pressured to impress and you can just be yourself. Which is the person they will love the best.

But on the flip side, waiting too long to meet the parents, could be a strong indicator of the relationship not being serious and casual. Ultimately, when choosing the right time to meet the parents of your significant other, you must carefully weigh the pros and cons of your decision. You don’t want to ask your significant other too soon, because it may make them uncomfortable. At the same time, it could be a good test to see whether he or she is taking the relationship seriously.
