Jersey Shore is infamous for embodying everything that is wrong with American culture, so it is understandable that Italy is up in arms over the thought of Guidos tarnishing their classy pavements.
One newspaper columnist Roberto Del Bove lamented in the Rome newspaper New Notzie, “they embody the worst stereotypes of Italians, multiplied by thousands and Americanized.”
Another Rome newspaper, Corriere della Sera described Snooki and Co. as, “slicked hair, exaggerated narcissism, boundless love for the family and outlandish eccentricity.”
After MTV Italia posting a clip of Jersey Shore on their site as a preview of what is to come, the viewers were less than impressed, as one viewer writes, “when I see this, I wonder whether [Osama] Bin Laden had a point.”
