Roxy Tells You What She Really Thinks
Roxy, or at least her character on theCity, has done a 180. Our first encounter with Roxy was her putting jabs in on her friend behind her back, despite the fact that she was crashing on her couch. What do you think Roxy blames this on?
“At the beginning of the season, the producers were really trying to set me up in a certain way,” says Olin, who says that she actually lived with Whitney and still works at People’s Revolution. “So, they took out all the parts of me, the sweet things or me being a good friend to Whitney. At the same time, we weren’t as close in the beginning. I hadn’t seen her for two years, and through the episodes, she has become really close to me. That part is real.”
What else is real, is Roxy’s disdain for Freddie Fackelmeyer. She’s already discussed his unflattering orange skin, now she’s going in depth about what went down on the fateful episode when it was revealed that Freddie had a girlfriend.
“At one point, I was looking over at Freddie,” Olin recounts. “And I was really upset with him. I look over at him and he’s literally shaking and I think, ‘Oh my God, I’ve taken it too far. Uh oh.’ At the same time, if you’re going to mess with my friend like that, I’ll put you in your place.”
The thing that bothered most viewers about this encounter was how Roxy didn’t let Whitney speak for herself. Roxy says initially she tried to keep her opinion to herself.
“I got a really bad feeling about him,” she remembers. “I just did, and that’s hard for me! If Whitney really likes a guy and I don’t like him, it’s awkward. I just wanted to get away from him, because I didn’t want to say my opinion before she realized it for herself. So, I just tried to get myself out of the situation for the first time ever,” she says, laughing.
But Roxy is aware that she may come off harsh.
“There’s this place in me that’s protective of myself,” explains Olin. “So I can come off as harsh. Now, as the episodes have gone on, I’ve been able to drop my guard, getting used to the cameras being around. I think in the last episode, it was the most me I’ve ever seen it.”
As for her feelings on Freddie Fackelmeyer, they haven’t changed much.
“He is shady,” she says point-blank. “From the second that I met him, I was like, something is not right. He’s hiding something, and I still get that in the pit of my stomach every time I’m with him. Even though he’s a nice guy and he’s beyond handsome, he’s one of these sweet talkers. I don’t trust him for a second.”
Her opinions on Olivia are kinda similiar, or perhaps ever worse.
“She drives me nuts. I don’t get along with Olivia very well. I think she’s great on the show. I think she’s a very pretty girl. Would I ever be friends with her? Absolutely not.” In fact, Olin says that though she has met people who travel in Olivia’s circles, she still hasn’t met “anybody who has her back in any way.”
We bet Roxy and Whitney bond over their Olivia feelings. And, much like Whitney, Roxy is able to put Olivia’s crappy attitude aside to admire her style.
“She has great style,” Olin points out. “It’s an art the way she organizes herself. I swear to God, it must take hours. I’ve never seen a hair out of place on that girl.”
Roxy also discussed her other job on ABC. Roxy probably wouldn’t deny that her last name helped her land the role, but she still says she has to use her acting skills to make her role believable. She plays a potential surrogate mother to a gay couple.
“I don’t know if I could do it,” she says. “It takes a strong person to give that baby up at the end of the day. That’s a struggle I think that I would really fight, and I’m going to have to really think about that for my character.”
Whitney Like You’ve Never Seen Her

Whitney may not be as vocal as Roxy Olin or be able to read people like she can, but Whitney seems to have Olivia down to a tee. Besides saying that Olivia “can create drama out of nothing”, in an interview with Daily Mail, she humbly discusses her shock that MTV wanted little ole’ her to have a spin-off, how Jay Lyon embarrassed her on theCity more than her notorious Hills fall, and says she’s Charlotte, not Carrie Bradshaw. Whitney also posed for some high fashion photos.
To people who have never heard of The City or Whitney Port, how would you describe the show and what you do?
I am a TV personality and I star in a reality soap opera that follows my life in New York City. So the things I do every day – going to work, having a drink with friends – are filmed and then turned into a TV show. But I’m also a fashion designer – I started my own clothing line last year by utilising all the opportunities and exposure that being on the TV show has given me.
What a gig! How on earth did it all come about?
It was by accident. Three years ago I heard that Teen Vogue in Los Angeles was looking for interns, so I went along to the offices and presented myself, and they were, like, ‘Yes, there is an opening, but you need to know that it will involve being filmed by MTV. Would that be a problem?’
To be honest, I just really wanted to work at Teen Vogue, so I said, ‘Sure, no problem!’ As well as the job interview, I had to do a screen test, and luckily it was a yes from the Teen Vogue editor and a yes from MTV. It was only when I turned up for my first day at work and saw Lauren Conrad [star of the hit reality show Laguna Beach] sitting at the desk opposite me that I realised what I had signed up for and that I had walked into a part on her new show The Hills. I was, like, ‘Ohmygod, what is this?’
A free pass into the world of a young person’s dream…
I guess, but I didn’t really know what I was getting myself into, and to begin with, when I was on The Hills, there wasn’t a focus on me, I just got on with my day job. But I became genuine friends with Lauren and I got to know the gang – Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, etc – who were already well-known. But in terms of attention, I just wasn’t in their league.
But then they relocated you to New York and gave you your own show.
I never expected this; I am the most drama-free, non-attention-seeking person out there. When the MTV producers asked me to do The City I said, ‘Why me?’ I am so not the reality-TV-show type.
Perhaps that’s what appealed to MTV; you keep a sense of reality about you.
And what’s a reality TV show without some reality? I think they recognised [sic] that I am a neutral person, that they could base The City on me and I’d be the solid one, the one that people could relate to. And I gave them a disclaimer; I said, ‘If you guys are looking for me to start the dramas, then I’m not that person.’
Lucky that they brought in Olivia Palermo [who stars with Whitney in The City], then…
Yes, she’s good at creating drama out of nothing. Olivia is a socialite and she can be difficult, cold and aloof, but I like to think that I balance that out.
So is Olivia for real or is she all sweetness and light when the cameras are turned off?
She’s for real. She acts like everyone’s the enemy and no matter how hard you try, it’s difficult to get through to her or become her friend. She thinks she is above everyone else.
How do you feel that so much of the buzz surrounding The City focuses on Olivia? Over here she’s the style crush of the moment.
Well, she has good style, I’ll give her that. And I’m happy to give her some of the buzz because it takes the pressure off me! And there’s no competition. I’m not like that – whatever makes the show successful…

Do you read your own press?
Not really. I’ll see the photos of me in magazines, often in those style pages – ‘Has she got it right? What do you think of her new handbag?’ – but I never read the comments. I think if you read that stuff and take it to heart, you are taking yourself too seriously.
But doesn’t the constant paparazzi attention drive you mad?
I’m not so vain that I want to get dressed up for the cameras all the time. I’m happy to leave my apartment without make-up – I just put on some big sunglasses or, if I’m having a fat day, I’ll wear a baggy T-shirt and jeans and just get on with it.
Unlike Olivia, who looks so made up in the new series that she must get up two hours early to get ready each day.
I think it’s three hours, actually. But we do have to do our own hair and make-up – see, it is all real.
You wear your own make-up, but don’t you get the clothes for free?
I get sent some cool things for free – I’m very lucky – but it’s not like MTV gives us a wardrobe each season. We do have to log all the brands that we wear because they get put on to the website after each episode – a kind of ‘Get Whitney’s look’. And it’s not all designer – Olivia wears lots of Topshop and Zara. You’d be surprised.
What’s your latest fashion find?
I have an obsession with tights. There are so many cool patterned versions around. I love the ones Henry Holland has done for Pretty Polly.
Yes, they look great on people like you, with legs to die for, but we’re not sure about the rest of us.
I think tights are great for everyone. You don’t have to do the patterned ones; maybe mix things up and try deep purple rather than black. It’s the easiest way to update an outfit.

Let’s talk boys. On the first series of The City we watched you fall for and break up with Aussie musician Jay Lyon. It can’t be much fun living out a relationship on camera.
The most embarrassing moment of my TV career to date came when I found out from a friend that my boyfriend was cheating on me. Whoever you are and however it happens, that is a humbling, horrible moment, but when the cameras are on you, waiting for your reaction, you just feel pathetic and totally naive. And you wonder,
did the producers know he was cheating? It gets very difficult to
know who to trust.
Who do you trust?
I trust my gut feeling and my oldest friends. Producers are a different matter – you never know when they are trying to get a rise out of you.
So with Jay gone, you’re now playing the part of single girl about town. Could you be the new Carrie Bradshaw?
Oh, I love Sex and the City, but I’m more of a Charlotte! I love being single but, however much MTV would love it, I am not going to go on a different date every night.
You could probably take your pick of the city now. Who would be your dream date?
Ryan Gosling. I don’t really have a type, but I have a big crush on him. Hasn’t everyone?
What would happen if you fell for someone who refused to be a part of the show?
Thankfully, I haven’t had that situation yet, but I can’t imagine how it would work right now. I just know I couldn’t keep anything secret as I have given the producers full access – I can’t get away from sharing a thing.
You’ve dated Americans and an Australian on the show. Have any British guys taken your fancy while you’ve been in the UK?
I wish! I’ve been far too busy to notice boys. But I’d be up for dating a Brit. I don’t discriminate.
You’re in London with your sister Jade – how does your family feel about you living your life on camera?
Jade has loved being here with me. We’ve done Topshop and stuff; even though there’s now one in New York, it doesn’t compare with yours. But sometimes I do feel awkward being the centre of attention. I’m the middle of five children and my parents have always been careful to make us equal. They are very grounded, so they’d say something if they didn’t think I was being myself.
THE WHITNEY ROUNDUP
FAVOURITE ACCESSORY?
I have a beige vintage Chanel bag that I take everywhere with me.
FAVOURITE DESIGNER?
Of all time? Valentino. His designs are so classic and beautiful.
FAVOURITE IPOD TRACK?
I still listen to Jay’s band Tamarama. But that’s because we’re friends and I don’t get the heart-wrench any more.
BEYONCE OR TAYLOR SWIFT?
Beyoncé.
YOGA OR GYM?
Gym. But I’ve not been for six weeks — I find it really difficult to get back on the wagon. Once I’m off, I’m off for a while.
CHOCOLATE OR CHEESE?
Dove Milk Chocolate Bars. It’s too bad that you don’t get them
over here.
BRAD PITT OR GEORGE CLOONEY?
Oh, Brad. George is way too old for me.
OK, BRAD PITT OR ROBERT PATTINSON?
Still Brad Pitt.
JENNIFER OR ANGELINA?
Angelina, but we’re talking purely on a looks basis, right?

Kristin: Cute, Casual, and Cold

Kristin Cavallari looked cute, casual, and cold while shopping with her “friend” Stacie Hall at Planet Blue in Malibu recently. Stacie’s dress was a bit drab and the length didn’t flatter her legs.
We know Where Kristin and Stacie gather, we know MTV and a camera are in the midst.
Is it Regular Unleaded or Super?

Celebrity Paradise via Fashion Spot
Audrina Patridge was out and about in LA Thursday, November 5 gassing up the G-Wagon. As much as we love the G-Wagon, we love the outfit nearly as much. So before you ask why so many photos of Audrina pumping gas, appreciate the clothes.
When Audrina wore these lovable Louboutin’s before, we didn’t feel like the clothes did them justice. But this is much better. The maroon color looks good on Audrina’s skin and the tight fitting bandage dress is always good for Audrina’s fit shape. The three-quarter length blazer is also cute and practical for LA.
While we don’t know whether she used regular or super, her looks is definitely the latter.
Burglar Bunch Suspect Reveals How He Did It
An affidavit obtained by TMZ reveals how the Burglar Bunch managed to steal millions of dollars worth of celebrity goods from their homes.
The document reveals that after Nick Prugo was arrested, he met with detectives and “provided a full confession and implicated several other suspects: Rachel Lee, Dianna Tomayo [sic], Alexis Neiers, Courtney Ames, Jonathan Ajar and a man only known as Roy.”
In fact, he gave specifics on how he committed each burglary. Read below:
On the burglary of Paris‘ residence: “Prugo stated they entered Hilton’s residence approximately three times, prior to the burglary in December 2008. That they removed cash, narcotics and thousands of dollars worth of jewelry to include family heirlooms.”
On the burglary of Orlando’s residence: “Prugo detailed how the crew removed several expensive wristwatches, artwork, men’s and women’s clothing from the location.”
On the burglary of Bilson’s residence: “Prugo stated that he burglarized the residence a total of three (3) separate times … he was able to access the residence through an unlocked side door … Prugo estimated that he and Lee removed approximately $200,000 to $300,000 worth of Chanel merchandise.”
On the burglary of Audrina’s residence: “Prugo stated that he, Lee and Tamayo entered the residence through an unlocked door … he first saw video surveillance of he and Lee committing the crime posted on the celebrity website, TMZ.”
On the burglary of Lohan’s residence: “Prugo stated that he was apprehensive because he was aware that the residence was equipped with surveillance video” and was scared of being busted again. “Lee chastised Prugo for his caution and stated, ‘You’re already here. You might as well come inside and get something for yourself.’”
Now this is interesting: In the doc, it says Prugo claimed Lee’s father knew about their illegal activities and gave them the following advice on how to elude arrest: “Bury the stolen property in the Nevada desert and for Prugo to join the military.”
Olivia’s Not Rushing Into a Clothing Line, But She Will Have One
Olivia usually politely turns down interviews (not surprising), but granted one to NY Daily Mag at the Swarovski-sponsored book party for Gossip Girl costume designer Eric Daman’s new book You Know You Want It.
In said interview, she spilled on her hopes to have her own fashion line one day. “I think designing takes years of practice. It is definitely something that I do want to do, but I think that timing is everything, so I’m going to wait a little bit,” she said. Besides having impeccable taste, she’s also spending time and practicing designing before she jumps into it?! Seems like a great plan.
Olivia’s clothing line will undoubtedly center around her personal style, which hasn’t changed much since becoming a reality star.
“I wake up, and I just dress for myself. Obviously, going to work every single day and being in front of the camera, you have to be a little bit more mindful and make sure that a bobby pin isn’t out of place,” she told us. “I dress for my mood. If I wake up and I feel like I want to dress like a hippie, then I’ll dress like a hippie. If I want to go edgier, then I’ll do that. But obviously I’ll stick within my own personal sense of style. I think that it’s really important to get that across and let girls know that trends are important, but don’t get too much into them.”
Since Olivia has worked for some of the best in fashion, she has an idea of how she will treat her employees when her line gets up and running.
I’m a firm believer — whether the show shows it or not — that everyone should be treated equally. To be nice and to treat everyone the same is really important, and unfortunately, you don’t really get to see that from me so much. It’s kind of spun the wrong way,” she explained.
Despite this “spinning”, Olivia watches the show every week and tries not to worry too much about the editing.
“It’s important for me to know the story lines that are going on. I watch it by myself, because it’s business. It’s like, you go to work every day, and for me, it’s a business. I take my job seriously. I don’t need to show it off.”
We like that she watches the show and can’t understand why other people on these shows do not. To look at it as a business seems very practical. Although, we do have a hard time believing she doesn’t “need to show it off”. She name drops like no one we’ve ever seen.
As for the party she was attending for television fashion genius Eric Daman? “I’m sorry, who?” The guy who wrote the book this party’s celebrating?, the interviewer questioned. “Oh, you know what, I don’t know him at all. We’re supporting Swarovski, and I’m hoping to get the chance to meet him.”
Roxy Olin on Why Freddie is so tan and Why Whitney Liked Him
We’re liking Roxy more and more. She’s so different from every other character that has appeared on theHills/City franchise. She’s very frank, kinda like a miniature Kelly Cutrone. And we’re all Kelly fans.
In this interview with NY Daily Mag, a good portion of the questions were centered on Freddie Fackelmeyer and his hardcore orange skin. Roxy also dishes on how Whitney got caught up in such a douchey guy, she says she doesn’t exactly have a tat on her crotch, and reveals her designer dreams. We knew she had to have them!
What is Freddie Fackelmeyer like in real life?
I’m not a huge fan. He’s like a socialite. I can’t really read him. Like, he’s a nice guy. But I don’t trust him. I mean, I think it’s one of those things that once you find out that someone’s been shady, you can’t really look at them any other way.Why is he so shiny and tan?
You know what, that’s such a good question. I don’t know. That’s what I asked him when I first met him. Like, “Have you been in a booth for a while?” I don’t know. I think he’s been in a booth.Does he have tan lines?
He has his tan pretty down. Like he’s pretty clean. But it’s a little orange-ish.What did he say when you asked him about his tan?
I think he was used to girls being like “Oh, you’re so cute,” and I was like “Dammmn, you got really tan. Were you just in a booth or something?” And he was like, “No!”Why do you think Whitney goes after those kinds of guys?
I think her being new in New York — he definitely has the scene going on. Like, he knows the cool, New York socialite scene. So I think being new here, she got wrapped up in it.But you didn’t get wrapped up in it, and you’re new here.
No. I mean, I think it was different because I’m definitely more verbal about it. I think Whitney started to get a weird feeling about him, but she’s so sweet, and loves to look at only the good. And she was missing out — to me — on an obvious negative. Are you going to do another season?
Yes! It’s almost 100 percent. Once we start filming, I’ll be able to say 100 percent, you know? But as of right now, it’s 100 percent. When will they start filming for next season?
A couple weeks. It’s crazy. But it’s good. I’m bored. I want to get started again.Do you really have a tattoo on your crotch?
I have a tattoo on my hip bone, but I was joking and they didn’t show the humor in it at all in the editing room. But I’m glad you asked. It’s not on, it’s like right above. But I do. It’s angel wings. Were you upset with the way that part was edited?
I felt really bad for my grandparents. They liked last night’s episode a lot. But afterward, I was like, “I’m so sorry about the crotch comment.” But they didn’t write me back yet. What do you want to do with your life?
Can I think big here? I would die to be in a Quentin Tarantino film one day. That would be my lifelong dream. But I would also love to direct. I also want to work for someone in the jewelry industry. I love jewelry and I’m curious about that. And maybe one day do something with a restaurant — own a restaurant or something. I have a lot of things going on.
